Meridian 100% Natural Almond Butter Review

I have been meaning to review Meridian's natural almond butter for some time now, but usually i end up demolishing the jar before i get the chance to take some pictures for the blog.

This time i bought several jars to make sure that wouldn't happen, which is the only safe option when dealing with almond butter as its very moreish.

All of our almonds are roasted in their skins before being finely milled to produce this delicious nut butter, it makes the perfect snack for those wanting to maintain a natural, balanced diet.

Meridians almond butter contains no added sugar or palm oil, which is a big plus for the health and diet conscious.

If you are a fan of peanut butter, then the taste of almond butter is in many ways similar, although i think its slightly sweeter.

Which makes it a great healthy snack choice for those with a sweet tooth and i find a tablespoon helps to reduce any cravings for sweet, whilst proving a good source of protein and other nutrients in the process.

Almond butter is an excellent source of many nutrients including protein, heart healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, fiber, vitamin E, riboflavin and minerals such as magnesium, copper, calcium and phosphorus.

Two tablespoons of almond butter daily can significantly boost intake of the important antioxidant vitamin E, giving around 50% of the RDA.

You can purchase Meridian's Natural Almond Butter from Amazon below.

Raw Vegan Zinc Supplement Review

Studies show that vegetarians and in particular vegans are at risk of developing a deficiency in the mineral zinc.

Raw vegan diets are even more prone to Zinc deficiency as they often eliminate the half decent plant food sources that there are for zinc such as beans, legumes, nuts, seeds and even wholegrains to a degree.

Another issue is that strict vegan diets are excessively rich in the mineral Copper and low in balancing Zinc by comparison.  Copper and Zinc compete with each other, so diets low in zinc and rich in copper can cause zinc deficiency symptoms.

Symptoms of Zinc deficiency can include weak immune system/frequent infections, vertical ridges on the nails/white spots, adrenal fatigue, hormonal disorders, low sex drive, erectile dysfunction, low stomach acid/digestive problems, opportunistic infections such as candida overgrowth and much more.

A good RAW and Vegan Zinc supplement id recommend is from the manufacturer Garden Of Life.

Vitamin Code Raw Zinc supplies a good amount of Zinc at 30mg and contains 100% of the daily value for Vitamin C.

Also features a Raw Veggie Mineral Blend of 17 Raw, organically grown vegetables with 75 ancient soil-based alkalizing trace minerals ad a Raw Probiotic and Enzyme Blend for optimal digestion.

Garden of Life, Vitamin Code, Raw Zinc, 60 Veggie Caps is available from IHERB.

It is always wise to consult a professional before making any diet and lifestyle changes.
